Unique opportunity for budding percussionists!
We’re inviting committed young musicians across the central belt to collaborate with cutting-edge international percussionist, Colin Currie (one of the most respected players in the world) and our very own percussion superstar, Owen Gunnell on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd April at Platform (Glasgow) – here’s how to get involved:
If you, or someone you teach, is a percussionist currently working to a Grade 6 level or above, and would like to participate in the weekend of workshops led by Colin and Owen, as well as take up the opportunity to appear in a public performance alongside the professionals (Sunday 22nd April), please email us for an application pack.
Sessions on both days run from 10.30am – 4.30pm. Spaces are limited and offered first come first served.
As part of the weekend’s activities, participants will also get the chance to work with Glasgow-born composer Tom Harrold, to create material using bicycle parts that will contribute to a new work ‘Soundcycle’. This is due to be premiered during the European Championships’ Festival 2018 in August in a sport-themed concert with the usual fun and games for all the family. We’ll have plenty of updates regarding this project, so stay tuned.
